I am so excited about this peer workshop! I have been wanting to workshop my writing all term, so I am glad to finally be able to. It is always nice to get a fresh perspective on your writing, as reading a draft over and over again gets annoying. I am HOPING that my piece of writing gets all marked up so I can revise and expand my writing.
I have only workshopped writing once, and that was in class. So, this take home workshop is a whole new project for me. How are you liking this type of peer workshop?
I had workshops like this in the past where we would mark up and bring back other students papers, but we always read them in out group first and discussed it. I like this type of workshop, but personally, I would have liked to have some time in class to go over the papers in the group.

I hope we get at least a few minutes on Wednesday to discuss the papers. Peer reviews that are solely written are ok....but the best feedback comes from active discussion. It allows reviewers to articulate ideas more clearly and to hear how other reviewers felt, and it gives the writer a chance to ask questions. I know my written comments won't be as useful without my explanation.
ReplyDeleteAlso, peer reviewing annotated bibliographies is hard! The organization? Alphabetical. Is the thesis supported? There isn't any. I've never had to peer review a piece that was so hard to comment on, because its just broken into so many little self-sufficient sections.

Hi,
ReplyDeletePeer workshops can be very constructive for some people but not all though. Anyone who proofreads or edits your paper will benefit you very much in the long run. We often need someone else to look at our own writing for the benefit of having an outside perspective in our work.

I am also excited about peer workshop. I am really looking forward to receiving feedback from others and giving my own input too. I think it is a great way to share different writing styles. I wish I could have always have another set of eyes look at my work before I submit it to be graded.
